This public program combines a brief annual members’ meeting and a presentation on  the oldest schoolhouse in Arlington.  The members meeting is an opportunity for members to cast their ballots for the Officers and the Board of Directors of the Arlington Historical Society.

Register for both events simultaneously at this link: tiny.one/AHSannual. The members meeting will start at 7:00 and the talk on the Hume School will begin immediately following at about 7:15.  Please be sure when you register to click on the last question about whether you are a member.

The talk immediately following the brief members’ meeting will be about the historic Hume School. Museum Director, Dr. Mark Benbow will tell us about establishing the school in the 1890s, what the community looked like then, and some of the teachers and students.  He’ll also talk about the changes the building and museum have gone through over the years.  Then AHS President, Cathy Hix will discuss what is next for this unique building as AHS works to make it into the state-of-the art and fully accessible museum that Arlington deserves.

Register before the end of the day on May 12 so that we can send you the Zoom link information on Thursday morning (May 13).  We are conducting our meetings virtually until the pandemic threat has subsided enough to gather in large groups.
