Today’s event (4/30) at the Ball-Sellers House has been cancelled. The thunderstorms sealed the fate of our joint event celebrating spring with the Glencarlyn Community Garden. We’ll let you know if/when it is rescheduled.

The Ball-Sellers House, in partnership with the Glencarlyn Library Garden, celebrates spring gardening. Tour the c.1750 farmhouse and learn how colonial Virginians used their garden produce.  In the afternoon, learn how the Ball family likely grew their vegetables in their kitchen garden.

Ball-Sellers House folks will also be at the Glencarlyn Library parking lot in a community event that includes grinding corn and wheat the colonial way with a quern or a mortar and pestle. You can also enjoy local sales of hand-made pottery, hive-made honey, and choosing plants for your garden or your home. There will also be representatives of the master gardeners to help with plant selection and answer your questions about the community garden behind the library or in your own.

We’ll be at BOTH the Ball-Sellers House at 5620 3rd St., South AND at the Glencarlyn Library at 300 S. Kensington St. South
