The Destruction of East Arlington

Arlington Historical Society: The Destruction of East Arlington

East Arlington and Queen City were long-standing African-American communities in Arlington Virginia. When the Pentagon was built in 1941, the residents were displaced under eminent domain and the communities were razed. In this 2014 public program of the Arlington Historical Society, Dr. Nancy Perry tells the story of East Arlington in a talk to the Arlington Historical Society and some of the former residents of the community shared their experiences.
