Come for the history, stay for the charm!  This is a Senior Experience performance of an original play by two graduating seniors at Washington-Liberty High School, Layla Johnson and Matteo Hope. Layla has written a play that adds life and character to the historical figures who lived in Arlington’s oldest house, the Ball-Sellers House. She based it on her own excellent historical research. Students will perform this original play. This was Matteo’s idea as a sophomore and he co-produced and co-directed the play with Layla.

It’s at Washington-Liberty High School at 7 pm for a donation to the school at the door of $5. Join us as we applaud Layla and Matteo’s senior project to highlight Arlington’s history in new and creative way.

What is the Senior Experience?

The Senior Experience program is a 3-week program aimed at facilitating the transition from high school to the “real-world” by fostering work, internship, or volunteer opportunities. Seniors are offered the opportunity to embark on an exciting and unique learning experience that will provide an opportunity to examine the world from another viewpoint. Seniors may expand their interests and abilities in a professional setting, working with mentors who have chosen to share their knowledge, experience, and talents with W-L seniors. Students are also allowed to do special projects. The program allows seniors to:

  • explore the relative roles of theory and practice as each relates to a work environment
  • relate academics to the work world via career experiences and community service
  • gain real life experience to enhance interpersonal and workplace skills
  • work with professionals in a variety of workplaces
  • give back to the APS and W-L community.
