The Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority (NOVA Parks) system owns some of the most important historic sites in the region! Chairman of NOVA Parks and Arlingtonian Mike Nardolilli will discuss the creation of NOVA Parks 60 years ago and the history that can be found in the three parks in Arlington (Potomac Overlook, Upton Hill, and the W&OD Trail) and elsewhere in the NOVA Parks system. Find out how Northern Virginia wound up with its own regional park system and what history each preserves. in this special presentation commemorating 60 years of NOVA Parks.

Michael Nardolilli serves in a volunteer capacity as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority or “NOVA Parks.” He is also if the full-time Executive Director of the Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin. Mr. Nardolilli’s past positions have included being the President of the Arlington Outdoor Lab, President of the C&O Canal Trust, President of the Northern Virginia Conservation Trust, Chairman of the East Falls Church Planning Task Force, Chairman of the Arlington County Transportation Commission, and President of the Arlington East Falls Church Civic Association. In 2011, Mr. Nardolilli was selected as a “Green City Leader” by Washington Life Magazine and was named a WETA-TV “Hometown Hero” in 2007.

The AHS program is free and open to the public. It will be in the Reinsch Library auditorium on the Main Campus of Marymount University. DRIVING DIRECTIONS and FREE PARKING: Attendees should enter the Marymount University campus at the library gate on N. 26th Street. From Glebe Road going north, take a right onto 26th Street. Pass the intersection with Yorktown Road and then enter the campus through the next gate on your left. The library is to your left as you enter the campus. Free garage parking is available in the garage at the bottom of the incline.
