To commemorate the passing of John Glenn, the first man to orbit the earth, the Arlington Historical Museum is hosting a temporary exhibit about this hero of the Space Age and his life in Arlington.

John Glenn and his family lived on North Harrison Street from 1958 to 1963. His wife Annie, watched his historic flight on the TV set in their home and fended off reporters as well as the Vice President, Lyndon Johnson.

The museum exhibit shares photos and artifacts that Glenn gave the Arlington Historical Society and gives you a rare glimpse into his life and the press swirling around him here at home in Arlington. The exhibit also shows NASA film footage of that historic orbital flight. The exhibit runs through March.

Open free to the public:

  • Wednesdays 12:30 to 3:30
  • Saturdays 1:00 to 4:00
