AHS is at Living History Day at Civil War Fort C.F. Smith.  From 1861 to 1865, US Army soldiers garrisoned in Arlington County (then called Alexandria County) built a defensive line to protect Washington, D.C. from potential attack from the Confederate Army. Visit the AHS table to see Civil War artifacts found in the county, local maps of the era, and learn more about Civil War history in our area.

Fort C.F. Smith will host walking tours, history activities, and US Army demonstrations from Civil War reenactors including members of the 54th Massachussets “Glory” regiment and other African-American units from or in Arlington at the time.

This is the first live event hosted by Fort C.F. Smith since the pandemic.  It’s all FREE!
