This is rare recovered 8 mm footage of leisure time in Arlington. The film was acquired and is narrated by Charlie Clark, local historian, journalist, and author of the Falls Church News Press “Our Man in Arlington” column. The film is from Guy Francois who originally came to Arlington as the son of a Belgian diplomat and then returned to become a permanent resident here. This video takes you back in time as the family enjoys Bernie’s Pony Ring in Lyon Park, Potomac Boat Races, and a trip to Glen Echo Park in Maryland. Also is a trip to the grocery store, watching planes at Gravelly Point, a visit by the King of Belgium, and the funeral of a dignitary at Arlington National Cemetery.

Interspersed are sounds from WEAM radio of the era. Enjoy this 26 min and 45 sec video of yesterday.
