Think you know local history?  Join us for an evening to put your knowledge to the test.  Win prizes!  Win boasting rights and applause!  Even enjoy a historic cocktail recipe as if you were in a bar trivia game!  Register HERE by August 26 for Zoom access.

On the morning of the event (August 27) you will get an email with easy to use information about how to attend the online Zoom game.

Trivia games often are played in bars by teams.  Our virtual trivia game can’t be played in a bar so to simulate the atmosphere, we offer a recipe for a historic cocktail.  The email you receive on the morning of the event (Aug 27) will have a recipe for a historic cocktail: the “Gin Rickey.”  A hundred years ago, Prohibition would have prevented bar trivia games so to remind us all what life would have been like during Prohibition, we’ll give you the list of ingredients to make your own drinks at home, just like our forebears would have.  We’ll show you how to make one.

Our trivia challenge will have something for everyone!  We’ll have these prizes for the top 3 winners.

  1. First place winner gets a $50 gift certificate to Athena Pallas Greek restaurant
  2. Second place winner gets a historic Arlington blanket/lap throw (a $45 value!)
  3. Third place winner gets “Arlington County: A Pictorial History” a keepsake coffee table book by Nan and Ross Netherton (a $30 value!)

Throughout the game, we have random “drawings” for other prizes that any player can win regardless of the score. Other prizes for random winners include books about Arlington history, the latest issue of the Arlington Historical Magazine, a one-year membership in the historical society (a $35 value!), a historical photo from our wide selection already matted and ready for framing, and more!

You do not have to be a member of the Arlington Historical Society to play, but remember AHS gets NO government funding and we rely solely on membership dues and donations. So your membership helps supports activities like this one and our two museums. Learn more about the benefits of AHS membership HERE.

The only safe link to this event is the one registered participants will receive in their email inbox on the morning of the event from a representative of AHS.  ANY links directly to the event posted on Facebook or other social media venues are NOT safe.
