Join the Glencarlyn Library Garden for Autumn Fest on Sunday, September 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event offers the whole family lots of nature related products and information, plus free herbal treats to taste, face painting, and herbal sachets to make and take home. A naturalist will be on hand with a critter, Tree Stewards, Master Gardeners, and Audubon at Home will all be there to answer questions and provide helpful information.

This year, Autumn Fest is also partnering with the Ball-Sellers House, giving visitors a chance to tour this historical treasure, the oldest house in Arlington, a farm home from the 1740s with a wonderful garden. This Sunday, visitors to the Ball-Sellers home can create an herbal craft project and enjoy a tasty colonial treat.

Fall is the best time to plant. The time to purchase is now. Locally native plants will be available from Hill House Nursery. Pumpkins, potpourri, blooming perennials, fall vegetables, and herbs will be offered by Country Gardens Nursery. Other vendors will be offering bee houses, honey, compost tea, handcrafted jewelry and T-shirts with artwork featuring butterflies and their host plants. The sale raises funds to keep the Glencarlyn demonstration garden at the library operating. This event is free to the public. More information is available by emailing glencarlynlibrarygarden@gmail.com, calling 703-244-7309 or at www.mgnv.org.
